Review: You Want Me To Do What ?

Get Off Your Blessed Assurance and Do Something !

Published by Faith Words, You Want Me To Do What definately falls in the religion genre.  The official full description reads.

“When individuals feel God telling them to do something that is out of their comfort zone, what is the instinctive reaction? To run for the hills? To pretend they didn’t hear? To argue? Dr. Michael Youssef explains that God challenges every Christian to fulfill the call He has placed on their lives. Dr. Youssef walks readers through the story of Joshua and leads them to discover how to take on what seems to be impossible, learn from failure, complete the victory, claim their inheritance, and share their story. By the end of this journey they will be inspired to put the lessons of this book into practice and claim the promises that accompany God’s calling.”

The book does a great job of taking the story of Joshua from the bible and relating it to the reader.  If you are questioning your abilities and feel you need some religious guidance, then You Want Me To Do What ? may be a good book for you.

Are Books Your Best Friend ?

I still remember my mother taking me to Book Fairs and telling me that books are your best friends. At that time however my young mind could not fathom the depth of that expression. I would like to possess each of those as each seemed to hide a beautiful tale, a beautiful world within them. And there were my best friends also hidden within them. At a very early age I made friends with Abraham Lincoln, Mahatma Gandhi and many great personalities. There was a private world that we shared. This was possible only through books. Only through books can you feel and experience what these great writers had in their mind, their aspirations, turmoil, expressions and a lot of things, and this narration is done only to YOU as if a friend speaks to you and you lend an ear.

Reading books has its own therapeutic value. When you select a book of your interest and choice you will experience that nothing can be a better stress buster than that. We all have questions in our mind related to existence, discoveries, science, and the place where we live in, and often our questions lie in our past and books provide you a peep in that past. It helps you to now yourself better as you understand that your thinking; your personality is nothing but a product of the sociological changes that has taken place. Book also helps a seeker who is in the search of the Universal Truth. Books actually talk to you when you are reading through its pages. You always win this bargain. Just imagine that you buy the thoughts, the teachings of Karl Marx, just for a few dollars. In today’s world where affordability of maintaining a life style is really becoming a burning issue, I feel books still have kept themselves apart from inflation, and never will be able to mark a price on the thoughts of such great personality. It is something that money would not be able to ever buy.

Books will be there with you through your good times and bad times, in fact it will also provide you aid during your bad times. The most precious things that book builds in you is the reservoir of knowledge. If you see, books have been given importance in all the eras. Even today majority of the discoveries are done with the help of the past which was documented in the form of scriptures and books. Scientists and archeologists are still trying to find the answers of our Today in our Yesterday. This Yesterday is in the form of books. Religion, inventions, philosophies all sum up themselves in books, as it has always been the strongest media to reach the masses.

If ever you feel deserted and would want to hear the words of a wise friend, who do not judge you but speaks to you with ease and each word helps you revive yourself, the best thing will be to take refuge in one of the books of your choice, nothing can be a best healer than that.
